The Community Church of Madrid was founded in 1971 by Rev. Thomas Goslin, our first pastor, at the request of a group of English-speaking residents of Madrid. In 2021, CCM celebrated 50 years since opening its doors as a “church without walls.” As such, from the very beginning, CCM chose to be a congregation based on three principles: to be a church not owning a physical space or building, to be a church that supports the benevolence of our ecumenical partners, and to be a church that welcomes multiple perspectives through the practice and encouragement of dialogue after our Sunday sermons.

Today our congregation includes people of many countries, backgrounds, and experiences – the United States of America, England, Spain, Ireland, Canada, Germany, Ecuador, Mexico, Hungary, and Guatemala, to name a few. We come from many branches of Christianity – Reformed, Anglican, Lutheran, Methodist, Roman Catholic, and Baptist, among others – and we also embrace seekers in our midst. We are affiliated with the Presbytery of Madrid-Extremadura of the Iglesia Evangélica Española and members of the Association of International Churches of Europe and the Middle East (AICEME).

We are an inclusive, affirming congregation, and welcome any person independently of his or her race, sexual orientation, national origin, or creed, who wants to learn more about the way that Jesus teaches us in the Bible and who is willing to live and love and care for our sisters and brothers in this challenging journey on earth and towards eternity.
